Andy Taylor takes a look at some of the new fly patterns to try this winter.
Those of you who have fished small stillwaters for many seasons will be more than familiar with the Nomad lure. This pattern has been about for years and is a proven killer during the winter months, especially the white and green version.
Grando Flies have put together a range of Nomads using their Supersoft Fritz in colours that you know will work. The blister pack house’s five Nomads: yellow, sunburst, pink, orange and lime, all tied on good quality barbed hooks. The brass bead in the middle of the pattern balances the fly making it swim flat and therefore giving you the weight needed to drop you fly down, and a different movement to flies tied with a bead at the head. The Nomad is a reliable pattern and this selection has the colours that will work in clear and coloured water.
Available from Garry Evans and other Grando Fly stockists.
